Health, Safety and Environment Manager


To monitor and ensure that all HSE programs are being complied with by Lime Energy.

To fulfill this responsibility, the HSE Manager will be responsible to conduct various field, vehicle and facility HSE audits.  The HSE MANAGER is required to coach and monitor the HSE responsibilities of Operations and Sales to ensure that the company’s HSE goals are being achieved.  The HSE MANAGER is required to collaborate with Human Capital, to monitor and review all HSE training programs.  The HSE MANAGER must assist in the day-to-day HSE issues that arise within their assigned areas, by working with local management to develop an action plan for resolution.  The HSE MANAGER is tasked to conduct facility HSE inspections to ensure both fire/life safety, EPA and OSHA regulations are in compliance.


Job Duties


Coach, influence and inspire teams to embrace behavioral Safety. Lead and facilitate the STOP for Supervision process.
Verify the quality of HSE inspections conducted by management. In addition, conduct local vehicle, job-site and facility inspections as part of the quality control process.  To ensure annual HSE goals are achieved.
To monitor HSE goals of supervisors in an attempt to foster a proactive HSE environment.  These goals may include hazard identification, job-site inspections and toolbox meetings.
The HSE MANAGER is required to investigate and review all local incidents to identify loss trends and ensure that the proper corrective action is being diagnosed and deployed to prevent future occurrences.
The HSE MANAGER assists local management in the day-to-day HSE issues/problems that arise within their area.  HSE MANAGER’s are tasked to find feasible working solutions that will have minimal effect on the operation’s work-plan flow.
The HSE MANAGER works with Human Capital to provide clarity on any HSE issue/query that is related to employee wellbeing.
At the direction of the COO and Operational VPs assist in the review of all HSE programs, policies and procedures.    This will include a review of all HSE and training related material, specific post incident/warning HSE training programs and the review of compliance related training.
Assist in the development and implementation of all local emergency evacuation and fire safety plans.
Provide communication assistance with all federal safety and environmental agencies (OSHA, EPA).
Under the direction of the COO, facilitate special projects as assigned by operational or corporate management.
To develop monthly HSE performance reports with focus on leading and lagging HSE performance indicators.
To review and reconcile monthly HSE Report raw data.
Conduct Ergonomic workstation assessments to mitigate repetitive motions claims.


A Successful Candidate Will:

Focus on Safe Behaviors; Facilitate proactive (leading) safety indicators based on behaviors.
Financial metric(s): Contain operating cost to remain within the allotted operating budget and establish programs to reduce insured and self-insured insurance losses.
Operating metric(s): Ensure that HSE programs are developed to comply with federal HSE regulatory standards.  Ensure that HSE practices are consistent with applicable industry wide practices.  Ensure that operational approach is consistent with standard reporting protocol and corporate policy.
Qualitative metric(s): This position requires teamwork, flexibility in approach and commitment to excel in developing and coordinating various company HSE requirements.  This position needs to develop a working relation with all operation units in the assigned Telecom region and be able to clearly communicate HSE -related ideas and processes to departments that may not otherwise be knowledgeable of these program policies and procedures.

Technical/Functional Competencies   

Minimum 4 or more years’ experience in HSE related field recommended or equivalent.
Preferably 4 years of supervisory experience.
Previous experience giving presentations to large groups.
OSHA and EPA knowledge

Key Experiences/Achievements  

Four Year College Degree related in Health or Environmental Science
Must have shown success in prior work experience(s) in a fast-paced result   driven environment.
HSE risk assessment and mitigation.
Incident Investigation / Root Cause Analysis
Strong people skills, problem-solving abilities, empathy for others and a willingness to work together toward the common good.
Proficient in Windows based computer software applications and communications packages.
Proven ability to reduce safety incidents
